I sit back and look saying like most others "If I only knew what I know now....." Yes I have learned a lot in my life but much like anyone else we learn the hard way. And the more I think about that statement, is there any other way to really learn about your life and what we really desire. What if I had never been irresponsible with my health and became obese. Would I have really learned how to become healthy and the importance of being healthy. I said to myself I probably would not have.
On May 7th 2007 my life changed. Well about 9 months before May I went to the doctor and he told me I had diabetes this was not a shock because I was so overweight. No matter what I tried I could not loose the weight and keep it off. I tried pills, crazy diet plans and nothing made me a total success they were only short term successes. I could not play with my grandchilren, I could not even walk more than 25 feet without being out of breath or feeling like I was going to collapse. So I started talking to people and doing research on gastric by pass. I heard good things and bad things about the surgery I weight out my options and decided if I was going to die young I would rather do it trying to make myself healthy in stead of sitting here doing nothing.
So on May 7th, 2007 I had the Rouxen Y Gastric bypass surgery. I kept studying even after the surgery. The more I learned the more interested in health care I became. I followed all my doctors directions, found a wonderful support system, and created a support system for others. Then I decided to take my support system a little further and go back to college to learn more about healthcare so I can keep helping people espicially the people in my community. As of this date November 14, 2010 I have lost 265lbs I am healthier than I have been since I was born in 1967. And probably happier than I have every been. Not only happy with my health but my whole life. I have found a new wellness in all aspects of mind body and soul.
