Subtle mind exercise

Wow this exercise was amazing it really made me focus and relax.  I could really feel as one with my body by breathing and concentrating on my breathing.  I will have to learn to not let outside thoughts and sounds distract me but this will take practice.  The subtle mind exercise focused on me and my mind and body where as the loving kindness exerciese focused on my feelings toward others and how feeling good things for other people also helped me.

During my reading and exercises I am discovering that there is a connection between spiritual wellness to mental wellness then physical wellness.  When we find spiritual wellness the mind calms we focus of something of importance and it gives us solice.  Then the mental wellness begins we can start controling our emotions, feeling and thoughts better.  With both of these our physical well being starts to improve we are able to focus and exercise more effectively by learning how to avoid those mental and physical distractions that happen.  Also our heart beats healthier and our blood flows freer when we learn how to relax and just take in our surroundings.  This is all such a wonderful thing with continued practive of spiritual, mental and physical wellness our bodie would be in a much happier place.

I really agree with your assessment of the exercise and feel that harnessing my wandering mind is a very difficult task. I also found this exercise to be helpful in obtaining a calm mind...for a minute or so. The reality is that life often gets in the way of any sort of relaxation at some point. Great post.

I agree that we would all be much happier and in a better place if we made this practice part of our daily lives. I believe we are spirit in a physical body so taking care of the spiritual side of us will heal our physical bodies and allow us to let go the suffering our mental and emotional bodies can create.

Hello,

I too found the ability to relax and breathe, but I had difficulty maintaining it as my mind would wander. I found this exercise more difficult than the Loving Kindness exercise. For whatever reason, it is easier for me to think of others before myself. I guess that I wouldn't say that is a bad thing, but learning to love yourself is important, before you choose to love someone else.

Spiritual, mental and physical wellness are all connected in many ways. I feel that when I am exercising I am able to relieve stress and emotions in my head. Spiritual devotion is like my daily medicine in which it helps me to understand the morals and values we should all have along with how to love. I felt this exercise was not as effective as the loving kindness. There was a lot more emotions released in the last exercise. Focusing on my breathing did not help to relief my busy mind. I think actually breathing in the negativity and suffering helped me to feel free from emotions that I had been holding onto for a long time. Since the last exercise, I have felt relief and see those individuals in a different way.

Hey there, I understand what you are saying, I felt such calmness with the subtle mind exercise as well. I do agree with you that the loving kindness practice calls for focus on others and teaches compassion. We can all do with more compassion towards others especially in the society that we live today. Thank you for sharing.

Hey there, I am glad that you enjoyed the subtle mind exercise, I enjoyed it too. I agree with you that the loving kindness practice was more for the well-being of others and thus teaches us compassion. I do think that in today's society, we can all embrace more compassion towards ourselves and others. Thank you for sharing!

Sherri I enjoyed the exercise for the most part. Very hard to not be inundated by thoughts, learning how to deal with them is definitely going to require practice and I had to realize this was my first exercise, so I should not beat myself up over it. This is definitely something worth developing. I am glas you had a good time with it.

I agree that this exercise was awesome. I really enjoyed it, however I enjoyed it more when I was able to just listen to the audio. When I loaded it into my laptop computer the screen showed a video demo that I found distracting so in order to really enjoy it on m y computer I had to close my eyes and just listen to the audio. I found the video to be distracting and in conflict, the video display was stimulating and the audio was relaxing.
